These courses are FREE and are approved for 7 credit hours of MN residential building contractor, remodeler, and roofer continuing education (includes approval for the energy and business management training requirement) by the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry, and 7 credit hours of WI dwelling contractor qualifier continuing education by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (includes approval for the four-hour construction laws, and codes and contracts, liability and risk management requirement).
*If you have both MN and WI Contractor licenses, you can receive credits for BOTH states by attending the courses at Northwood Technical College in Rice Lake, WI

Bill started Minnesota Construction Law Services in 2012 focusing on residential construction and small business law providing legal and business services to residential contractors and other owner-operated businesses. He became a lawyer after more than 25 years in the business world to bring common sense and business principles to the implementation of legal services for the construction industry.
Courtney Ernston is an attorney with North Star Law Group PLLC. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA and then received her JD from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Previously, Courtney worked for Minnesota Construction Law Services having joined in 2017 and becoming a partner in 2020. Courtney focused on immigration and small business law. She grew up in the family construction business and served as general counsel. Courtney is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy advanced litigation program, among the most respected programs in the country, and is an adjunct professor at Mitchell-Hamline College of Law teaching business organizations. Courtney was named a 2020 Up and Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyers and named by Super Lawyers to the 2020 Minnesota Rising Stars List. She was also awarded 2023 Rising Star by Housing First Minnesota. What makes Courtney so effective is she knows when a problem can be solved without the difficulty of litigation because sometimes the practical solution is not the legal solution.
Patrick is an associate professor in Residential Energy and Building Systems with the University of Minnesota’s Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering and serves as coordinator of the Cold Climate Housing Program with the University of Minnesota Extension. He is a lead faculty member for the Residential Building Science and Technology undergraduate degree program and a principal investigator for hydrothermal testing at the Cloquet Residential Research Facility. Currently, Pat is the project lead for NorthernSTAR, one of the Department of Energy’s Building America teams.
Ross has worked in the building industry for more than 10 years as a builder project manager and is currently employed as a health home specialist for Certified Moisture Testing, LLC. Previously, Ross was an energy efficiency consultant at The Energy Network Worldwide, a contract relations manager at the Neighborhood Energy Connection, a builder account executive/building performance specialist at Cocoon, a builder program account executive at Residential Science Resources, and an owner of Advanced Energy Consulting.
Michael Anschel is a nationally recognized expert on Green design, remodeling and building, writes, trains, and speaks for various publications and events around the world. His building assemblies have been published in numerous publications including the US Department of Energy. He is the owner of OA Design-Build, an award winning nationally celebrated design-build firm, and CEO of Verified Green Inc. which consults with Local Government, product manufacturers, suppliers, builders, and architects on Green building. Michael successfully straddles the building, design, and green worlds by engineering profitability into sustainability.
